ARRIVAL // GETTING THERE

Palma de Mallorca - a big, vibrant city often described as the 'capital of Mediterranean mega-yachting'. Getting to Palma is a breeze. There are direct flights into PMI airport from nearly 50 cities large and small all over Europe every week, including Madrid, Barcelona, Frankfurt, London, and Paris. Downtown Palma is just a 20-minute taxi ride from the airport. If you can’t get to Palma, you aren’t trying.

DAY 1 // SATURDAY // WELCOME ABOARD

After planes, trains, and automobiles – finally – you have arrived. Welcome to Palma de Mallorca. The island of Mallorca, the largest in the Spanish Balearic archipelago, is your home away from home. You’ll now embark upon one legendary week, where your only vehicle is a yacht, and your thoroughfare is the sea.

Meet up at Port Cala Nova, just west of downtown Palma. The port is home to our yachts and where all guests will board this evening.  Once your arrive, drop your bags then walk around the bay, go for a swim, hangout at the bar, or take a ride on jetski or Flyboard at Mallorca Watersports Center run by our very own Thomas Rempe while you wait for your yacht to get ready.  We'll board our yachts around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Once boarded, YACHTLEGEND staff will check you in and conduct a preliminary introduction before loading up the fleet.

We welcome everyone with a family-style local dinner in town! Gather round the tables, share some stories, and imbibe some of Spain's finest rosés as you meet the folks who will be come your new best friends and forever travel buddies.  It’s our first night together, where legends begin…

DAY 2 // SUNDAY // ES TRENC - SWIMMERS' PARADISE

Up and at 'em today!  Fill your sails with perfect wind as you whet your adventuresome appetite.  We're tackling a stunning sail today.  Point your yacht towards the stunning white sands of the beach at Es Trenc.  Use the morning to get acquainted with life on a yacht.  Sea legs you ask?  Yep, you'll earn those real quick.  Wait, what handle did you ask for?

After lunch on yacht, once feeling your sea legs start to kick in, pitch in and sail. This is your golden opportunity. Learn your way around the rigging, ask your skipper questions, and enjoy a wonderful sail along the striking Mallorcan coast.  Last one to the beach has to carry the vino ashore!

After a long, active day in the sun, we'll all be ready for some beach time!  Grab your swimmies and the bottle of vino or three and splash your way to the whitest sands this side of New Mexico.  Dine on board tonight as your hostesses tantalize your taste buds with wonderfully tasty morsels.  You might find me back on the beach sipping on Cuarenta y Tres late night....

DAY 3 // MONDAY // CALA MONDRAGÓ - LEGENDARY BEGINNINGS

Let's go sailing!   Shake off those sea-cobwebs as you put to test your freshly learned sailing skills.   Not enough beach time yesterday?  Gotcha covered.  We're going up the Eastern shore of Mallorca, aiming for the lovely beach at Cala Mondragó.   We'll build a raft in the middle of the 2-3 meter deep bay of too-perfect crystal blue water.  Swim to shore, jump off cliffs, raise some cane!

After thoroughly exhausting our bodies and imaginations, re-engerize yourself with some kipper on board before dinner.  Retire to the powdery white-sand beach afterwards to recount stories and revel in all your new-found adventuresome spirit.

DAY 4 // TUESDAY // CALA d'OR - TRUE LEGENDS ARE CULTURED

As the sun gradually climbs into the sky, it’s time to start thinking about your morning constitutional. Champers? Vodka? Champers vodka? Whatever you choose, make it count, because today has "Live-Like-A-Legend" written all over it.

When you awake to the sounds of waves gently lapping at the hull, the first thing that crosses your mind might be… lunch.  Fear not, for YACHTLEGEND staff anticipated a mild hankering for soul-food and mid-day nips after a night of howling at the moon.

Luckily, today is designed around local culture.  A quick jaunt south finds us in the yachtie town at Cala d'Or.  Head into town and find the local spots!  Get lost in the alleyways as you discover Mallorcan tapas the way they were meant to be enjoyed: over a tiny table outside a hole-in-the-wall, Mama-y-Papa restaurant surrounded by great friends!  Ask about the homemade wine, chances are they have their own and it will knock your flippy-floppies off.

DAY 5 // WEDNESDAY // CABRERA - ARCHIPELA-GO-GO

Another sunrise, another day in paradise. Same-same, but different. We'll depart late morning for Cabrera National Park. A short sail south leads us to the group of islands that have all been designated protected park. Very few boats actually get to visit here as we are required to make a reservation. And only allowed to do so 14 days in advance. We use moorings only, so everything is very well preserved. We'll take a hike up to an old Moorish castle that used to protect Mallorca, Spain, and the trade ways from pirates way back in the day. There is also a wonderful “hike” (on a nice path) to the other side of the island, which boasts a beautiful lighthouse.

Dine like the ancients that used to call this island home by roasting over red-hot charcoal the best of the cuisine that Mallorca has to offer!  YachtLegend staff know what a remote island meal looks like: Beach BBQ tiki-style!

DAY 6 // THURSDAY // SECRET HIDEAWAY

Daybreak in the Med. Stunning beaches. Steep cliffs over glistening ocean.  Sail boats dotting the bay, gently rocking in the glinting sun, and you’re curled up snoozing on one of them. This is your life. And it feels soooooo good. Excitement is in the air this morning because today, LEGENDS put to test their newly learned sailing skills!

By now you'll have your tacks and jibes down pretty well.  Put those skills to use as you race against your fellow Legends.  The starting gun goes off and you can feel your yacht lurch forward, stretching to get a bow out on your competitors right next to you.  You can feel the what your yacht needs to go fast; she's whispering in your ear....Bring in the main!  Give me some traveler up!  MORE JIB!

Crossing the finish line first gives you bragging rights for the next year.  There is no better way to cement the absolute awe of the week-long experience than with one epic day at sea. Savor it.

We'll arrive in Cala Portals Vells, a stunning anchorage for cruising yachts. Very well-protected, it boasts three picturesque beaches accessible by dinghy...or a short swim!  When night falls, your skipper and hostess will own the onboard kitchen one final night, testing their luxe survival skills and preparing the onboard dinner. Life on a yacht - it doesn't get much better than this!  Take in the serenity of it all before yacht-hopping your way over to your fellow Legends' abode to welcome-in your newly-adopted lifestyle together.  Challenge: Find the caves that King Jaime II used for the stone for the Cathedral in town.  Late night mission anyone?

DAY 7 // FRIDAY // VICTORS' RETURN

As the sun comes up over oceanic horizon, you may experience a torrent of emotion aided more than a little by fluid deprivation, mild separation anxiety, and/or a touch of substance withdrawal. Tonight is your last night on YACHTLEGEND. It’s time to make the sail back to where it all began, which you can now handle with professional ease, no? We thought so!

Today, the YACHTLEGEND fleet saunters the 7-mile sail northeast, back to Palma de Mallorca. As we race across the bay, reflect over the memories you'll have of the last epic week.  Did we actually do all this?  I think I should write some of this down....well, maybe not ALL of it.

Meanwhile, in the back of your mind, fear not. The return to Palma de Mallorca does not mean the trip is over. After the final dinner, the entire fleet will be invited to one last event together at a very special surprise location in Palma before cashing it in. All good things must eventually come to an end – it’s how they become legend!
